" It has been an incredible year! With all that we were blessed
with in Switzerland, courtesy of Davide and Mary Buzzi of Pony Records,
then to come home and win Best Pop in Milwaulkee at the Indian Summer
Music Awards, the Native American Music Awards Songwriter of the Year
nomination, and now debuting in Canada, it takes my breath away!

Jimmy Lee Young nominated at the Canadian
Aboriginal Music
Awards. Two performances slated
for Toronto, Canada in December!
-
Dear friends:
Thank you for all the support you have heaped on
us! Just today, it was announced that we are nominated in the Best
International Category, at the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards!
We will be performing in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Saturday, December
1st, at 6:15pm on the Main Stage of the Canadian Aboriginal Festival,
and on Sunday December 2nd at 3:15pm on the Music Cafe Stage. This will
mark our Canadian debut, and I am very excited about this since it
will bring us to Anduhyaun, the subject of the song we released!
As you might know, Anduhyaun, in Ojibwe, means 'Our Home',
and is a place for victims of abuse or homelessness to find help. Thanks
to the kind efforts of Ms. Blanche Meawassige, and others, Anduhyaun
stands as an example of how hard working hands and caring hearts can
help the people of Native America. Stay tuned... more to follow!
-
Also, the Native American Music Awards will
take place on October 6th, at the Seneca Casino in Niagra Falls,
New York. I will be participating as a nominee, ( Songwriter of the
Year) and as an awards presenter. Thank you for all of your votes, and
support of us in this endeavor. The nammys will be broadcast to
million of viewers this year. For dates and times visit www.nammys.com

Jimmy
Lee Young Continues to climb: Wins best Pop category for Anduhyaun at
the Indian Summer Music Awards!
Dear friends:
Thank you for
your letters! I am trying to answer each and every one, but it
may take a little time. Your support has been fantastic, and I
appreciate each and every one of you! Please keep them coming!
As you may have heard ( since I sent emails
all over the world!), we won for Best Pop at the Indian Summer Music
Awards. Thank you for your kind support. And special thanks to all
the performers who appeared on the song: 3 time nammy winner Felipe
Rose of the Village People, Yolanda Martinez, Quatisi ( who also
garnered 2 more nominations for her CD, Best of Quatisi!), Eddie
Three Eagles, Ricky Lewis, and of course, Gil Gabaldon II.
I have already received emails from Switzerland regarding
a return to do more shows, and needless to say, I could get on
a plane tonight and go! Thank you to all our new friends in Switzerland
and Europe! And of course, big thanks to our webmaster Daryl Dragon
and his lovely wife Toni Tennille,
for making this happen! We are grateful down to the bone! It amazes
me the impact these two have had on music. I just got a letter from
Martha Redbone herself, complimenting
Toni's voice,
and sending her best regards. She said Toni was a big influence on her
as a young girl, and was one of the infuences on her decision to start
singing publicly. Wow!
Well, as the music competitions continue, we set
our sites on Canada. Please vote for us in the Aboriginal People's
Choice Music Awards. To sign up and vote, just go to http://www.aboriginalpeopleschoice.com/signup .

Dear friends: WHAT A ROCKING TOUR!!!
Thank you for all your kindness. We are truly blessed by the great spirit!
We had a great tour of Switzerland! Davide Buzzi, of Pony Records
did a fantastic job promoting us. We did an everage of 2 radio stations
a day, and were featured on National Swiss Radio and Ticino Television!
One day we were buisiness as usual, and the next day we were recognized
everywhere! People kept coming up to us in the shopping centers and
saying," AAAHHH, I see you on the t.v.!" It was COOL!
We were treated with all the care given to visiting dignitaries, and
actually were introduced to several while there. The Semione
Society ( Comune di Semione) was great to us, and treated us to
a wonderful dinner, where we met some incredible people! Also, a
member of the Ticino parliament had a barbeque at his house on
a Sunday, and we were the special guests. I was invited to sing, and
they we very kind. You should have seen the Freedom cake they had. It
was HUGE, with all these swan statuettes on it! The food is incredible
over there, and I could eat my way through Switzerland if allowed!
-
It would take reams of paper to tell it all, but
in brief I must say that Blenio Valley is a storybook place with
all the charm you can imagine! The fans are both kind and eager to meet,
and the whole scene is one of peace, beauty, and art! I really am bowled
over by the whole trip!
-
The concert was a huge success, and we may be
going back next year. When I sang Maya, I heard someone in the first
row scream, " BRRRAVO!", and we got 3 standing
ovations: for Maya, Anduyhaun, and Apache! Hmmm...Bravo!
-
We had some great recording sessions with the legendary
pianist Eric Lee at the board! Eric is one of the coolest people
to work with! He believes in capturing the true performance, like we
do. I grew up in the Debbie Buchanan school of do it yourself, not by
machine, so I really appreciate his methods. We worked together on a
new folk song by Davide Buzzi, which I translated to an
English version. The session took place at Eric's studio, in what used
to be a giant chocolate factory, overlooking the valley. Unbelievable!
-
In our free time, we went on an official
visit to Locarno, the home of one half of my father's ancestry.I met
with the Secretario Communale of the city, Mr. Marco Gerosa,
and he mentioned that we are the last of the "Locarno's".
We took photos under the large crest of Locarno, and I felt like a bridge
between 2 cultures!
-
Also, we went to a soccer game in the Challenge
league! It was broadcast on swiss radio, and they played Anduhyaun
at half time. I was introdused on radio, and gave my best " Forza
granata!" for the team from Bellinzona, while waving the team shirt!
We won 3-1! After the game, we met team member Manuel Rivera,
who is from Peru, and is also Native American! Special thanks to
Jeff Franchi for making it possible! After the game, we toured
one of the many castles overlooking the city, and I can only describe
that as magical! What a place!
-
I also met a well known model named Isabella
while she was on a photo shoot for a magazine cover, and got to take
some photos with her. A crowd gathered as we mugged for the camera and
horsed around- what fun! I must thank photographer Domenico Chiefari
for making that happen! Grazie Domenico!
-
One of the coolest things to happen, was that fans
came all the way from France and Germany to see us perform. One very
kind lady named Elke came from Bavaria, and backstage, she showered
me with gifts made in Bavaria. She went through alot to get there
too, as she had some car problems on the road! Elke, you are one
nice lady-thank you! She said that she heard my song," Morning
Star" on Native Radio and just had to come. I am glad she did!
And I have to thank Patrick Doyle and www.nativeradio.com
for that. Thank you Patrick. Native Radio rocks Germany!
-
And speaking of thank you's, I would like to thank
Acusticom, the backup band for a GREAT job. You guys rock- let's
do it again! And thank you to the Comune di Semione for
sponsoring the tour, along with these generous sponsors : Blenio
Turismo, la Mobiliare and blenio tourRustici. Thank you for that
great apartment, the flights, the food and the wonderful promotion that
made us so popular overnight with the Swiss. But special thanks to Davide
and Mary Buzzi, and their daughters Karien and Leann for a really
wonderful time. You guys are my Swiss family!
-
And to all the folks who asked for Cd's after we
ran out: I spoke with Mary Buzzi, and we will get those mailed to you
asap! Thank you for your interest and patience! And for all the folks
who worked on the tour, I appreciate every kind act you showered on
us- thank you and bless you! And to our fans, who crammed themselves
into the venue at Castle Serravale: Thank you for giving Gil and me
the opportunity to do our best for you. We hope that you loved the show
as much as we loved doing it, and I look forward to doing it again and
again!
-
Well, we arrived tired but sated! I love rock and
roll down down to my soul, and would have stayed all year if you let
me! We arrived to the news that Anduhyaun was nominated twice by
the Indian Summer Music Awards in Milwaukee ( Best Pop / Best
Classic Rock)! That's 3 current, counting the Nammy nomination for
Songwriter of the year, and 13 total counting L.A. Music Awards, and
Rock City Music Awards! I would say things are really rocking around
here!
-
And once again to our sensei, Daryl Dragon and his
lovely wife Toni Tennille, for helping us make our dreams come true.
I have always fantasized about touring Europe and Switzerland. Now those
dreams are fond memories! Rock
On!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear
friends:
The news
is in, and so are we. The Native American Music Awards have released
the list of nominees, and I have been nominated in the category of Songwriter
of the Year! Thank you guys for logging on and voting, and to the
board members who gave us their votes, as well. Congratulations to all
the nominees! hats off to our friend Yolanda Martinez, nominated
for her great work, 'America" in the category of Best Folk Recording!
For a complete list of nominations, visit www.nammys.com
. You will be amazed at the shining list artists nominated this year.
-
It is so awesome for this to take place as we are
preparing to invade Europe! There are 4 major sponsors for our
visit , which I would like to thank publicly: Blenio Turismo, La
Mobiliare, blenio tour Rustici and Comune di Semione. Thank you
for making this possible. And a HUGE shout out to National Swiss
Radio, particularly American Folk and Country. And of course to
Davide Buzzi, and Pony Records, who pulled all of it together. You
rock!
-
Well, we have completed the shows we promised to
the Kern County Library Systems Summer Reading programs, which
took us all over Southern California. The hometown show at the Cedar
Center was a sellout! Big thank yous to all our friends and
fans who turned up to see us- you definitely rock!
-
And we finished the songs for Yolanda Martinez, Quatisi, and 3 time
Nammy winner Felipe Rose of the Village People. We saw Felipe
at the Village People's show at Marie Kerr Park's Summer Concert
series in Palmdale, California. It was a blast. Now, we are setting
our sights on Europe.
-
We will return from Europe, and then on
to several music festivals and award shows all over the U.S. Then in
November, we are planning to go to Canada. I am hoping to record the
next Cd in the winter/spring, and release by early summer-we shall see.
Meanwhile, we take these huge steps one at a time, and proceed!
-
Thank you guys for all you have done for us, especially
our webmaster 'sensei', Daryl Dragon, and his lovely wife Toni Tennille.

Rock on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Greetings friends!
Thank you all for your your
kindness in support of our recent endeavors. Alot is happening around
here, and we have you to thank.
First of all, as you know, the Nammys opened their
public vote for this year's show on October 9th, at the Seneca casino
in New York. We were in 5 categories! I was on and off the road,
and doing all kinds of music work, so I didn't put out a plea for votes
until later in the game! But I saw that you guys logged on after receiving
my email. many of you wrote to tell me you had trouble voting, and I
heard this from others as well. Not to worry, as I heard that they extended
it to accomodate those who had trouble. Thank you again for logging
on with those votes.
Next, we sold out the show at the Lancaster Cedar
Center, where over 250 people came out to rock with us! The entertainement
section of the Antelope Valley Press gave us almost a full page article.
It's the June 15th issue. Check it out online at www.avpress.com.
It was a great gig featuring Gil on drums, Matt Bachera on bass,
Cris Eucare on lead guitar, Justin Turnbow on rhythm guitar, the lovely
Marlena on backing vocals, and myself on lead vocal and rhythm. It
was a hot lineup, with those 3 guitars weaving and winding through the
songs! Marlena sang her heart out and did a featured intro for
"Maya". Everybody was just great that night! Thanks guys for
your rocking performances!
I will be playing 2 gigs this Friday for the Kern
County reading programs. I will be singing at the Ridgecrest
Branch at 10:30 am, and at the Kernville Branch in Lake Isabella at
3:00 pm later that day. I will be on the road ALL day! :)
Next, we will be doing our concert in Dongio Switzerland
on August 24th at Castle Serravale, courtesy of National Swiss
Radio, who is playing Anduhyaun! This is a big event they have called
the Apache Moon Concert Series featuring Jimmy Lee Young. Pony records
have been really awesome about promoting this, and they have promised
us that this will be a "big event with big promotion :)".
All I can say is the swiss ROCK! We will be recording with their premier
artist Davide Buzzi, and another Swiss group.
We will be In Milwaulkee in September, and then
on to Niaga Falls for the Nammys, and then on to Canada in November!
The new CD is written, and we will see about starting that in December!
I have finished the songs for Quatisi, Yolanda Martinez,
and Felipe Rose! Qua said she has begun work on her's and I am excited
to be a part of their projects!
Well guys, thank you for all you do for us, and I will
be in touch again soon. The nammys are due to announce their nominations,
so keep your fingers crossed!
Peace in all things,
Jimmy and Gil

Dear
friends,
Thank
you all for your patience. I have been absolutely bombarded with work
lately, but wanted to catch you all up on things. It was a great winter
for us, since we broke all kinds of ground for Native Music in L.A.
We were very honored by the Los Angeles Music Awards, nominated for
World Music Album of the Year, Americana Single of the Year, and Male
Singer/Songwriter of the Year. We were given 2 unanimous choice
awards, World Music Vocalist of the Year, and Spoken Word Single
of the Year. I am very pleased to have crossed over into so many
genres, and especially pleased to have competed and won in the general
categories with everyone else.! Rock City Music Awards out of Hollywood
nominated us for Best Male Solo Artist, and Best Songwriting,
and we took home 3 awards: Best Single of the Year, World Artist
of the Year, and a special Native American Heritage Award. I
guess we are finally bringing Native America to the Hollywood scene
in a good way!
-
With November and December wrapped up, I came home to finish the next
CD, and actually got halfway into the next-next CD! I then went on the
road for a few days with Chris Webb, of the Raymen, the Link Wray
tribute band. Link Wray is of course, Cris Webb's grandfather. I
was received as a guest of Link Wray's daughter, Beth Wray Webb,
and her husband Tommy. These folks are the salt of the Earth,
and will always have a special place in my heart.
-
We rocked at The Birchmere, who invited me back for some opening
act work. It was great! We played another gig, and I came home this
week and had some R and R time, but it is that time of year when promo
packs go out, and we pursue real work. I have once again been contacted
by Davide Buzzi, of Pony Records in Switzerland. They are going
to try and organize our gigs there in June.
-
Also, I want to send a special shout out to Koahnnic Broadcasting
out of Alaska, for continuing to play us on Earthsongs, which
carries us out to 60 stations nationwide. Rock on Shyanne Beatty!!!
-
Well, we have 5 new award plaques, and 5 new nomination certificates
hanging on the walls around here, and I have you guys to thank. Thank
you for making this a great year to start, and remember that the new
song, Anduhyaun, is dedicated to the battered homeless women's
shelters in Canada. Go to www.canadahelps.org
