SAMPLE OF A FILM / TV LICENSING AGREEMENT BETWEEN RECORD CO. & ARTIST: Signoff form.
See more notes below...

JIMMY : This is a typical contract for the licensing of a tune for a movie: In this case, the ORIGINAL tune was recorded by Universal / A&M Records, so they will SPLIT EQUALLY WITH US (in this case the $20,000 or so mentioned / offered)..Remember, this is an OFFER. We / you still could ask for MORE!

SO: Considering we 'take' this offer, We'll end up with $10,000 in our pockets, and Universal will get the other half for being 'an agent' !! NICE to be a record company, yes? In your case, you still have ALL THE RIGHTS to your original recording on your OWN LABEL...of 'Apache', since it's not on a major label yet... so you'd KEEP all front monies offered, and REMEMBER...you'll still get even MORE - when the film is released.
- - You'll get future: A) WRITER'S ROYALTIES, and B), PUBLISHING ROYALTIES for every performance. Depending upon the success of the movie, that could add up ($). Also remember that there may be a sound track offered for sale by a record company - tied to the movie. Thus, they'd ask you for a LICENSE for inclusion of the tune(s) - where you can counter offer for a fee that you feel is fair, etc....for use on the soundtrack album, (again..) only if the DEAL/ Offer was RIGHT...(your attorney would decide this..) and voila, more bucks potential for C/P & Co.. & money to pay your attorney too !!!
